Human Rights Council (HRC)

The United Nations Human Rights Council is a United Nations body whose mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world. The UNHRC has 47 members elected for staggered three-year terms on a regional group basis. The headquarters of UNHRC is in Geneva, Switzerland.
The UNHRC investigates allegations of breaches of human rights in UN member states, and addresses important thematic human rights issues such as freedom of association and assembly, freedom of expression, freedom of belief and religion, women’s rights, LGBT rights, and the rights of racial and ethnic minorities.

Dear Delegates,

These are my last few months in the country before I relocate abroad to pursue my higher education.

If you were to ask me what I would miss the most, among a few other things, it would be the culture of MUN and debating that has supported my growth throughout the past six years.

I am pursuing engineering and economics at an undergraduate level but I promise not to bore you with my fascinations unless you disrupt committee. I am also a theatre enthusiast. Thus, our committee sessions maybe a little dramatic, but no promises.  Two things I am not very great at but I do it regardless are singing and cracking jokes; the latter you can guess by reading this message.

But for the delegates who would like to get a clearer picture of who I am, I would like to say, I’m just like you.  I am someone who not just enjoys these deliberations about the burning issues in the world, but also enjoys the small moments in life. I hope I do a good job moderating, guiding and supporting you through the four days of the conference.

Dear Delegates,

I feel honoured to welcome you to VIBGYORMUN 10.

‘Diplomacy isn’t a spectator sport; active involvement is a crucial aspect.’  Having attended numerous Model United Nations conferences both as a delegate and as an executive board member, it would be my pleasure to share my knowledge of the intricacies of the agendas with you.

So far, I have attended 7 MUN Conferences all over Mumbai and have bagged commendable accolades all around.  I believe that every day is new learning and I wish not only to share the knowledge that I have acquired through my experience, with you delegates but am also sincerely hoping to learn a lot from you.

I am an avid debater and an aspiring writer.

As the Co-Chair for the UNHRC at VIBGYORMUN 10, I am looking forward to the constructive debate with comprehensive arguments.

Dear Delegates,

It is my honour and privilege to welcome you to the 10th edition of VIBGYORMUN, which has always been one of the premier conferences of our country and I am elated to be a part of it.

As your Co-Chair of UNHRC, I see MUNs as considerable learning opportunities and catalyst for the development of young adults. They enable young adults to think critically and simultaneously authorise delegates to develop leadership skills, communication skills, and friendships, within and outside the committee room.

I am fascinated by economics and have intriguing views on various socio-economic topics. Outside the realm of Model United Nations, I also enjoy listening to 80s and 90s music and in my free time, you will find me playing the guitar.

I love working with first-time MUN participants and introducing them to this spirited world of MUNs so feel free to approach me with any queries throughout the MUN. I will ensure fruitful debate in committee that will enable delegates to think from different perspectives and have more open-minded views.

I look forward to involvement and pertinent input from all delegates at the 10th edition of VIBGYOR MUN.
